Miami Declared Monday Off in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

City of Miami to Observe Federal Holiday with Closures and Events

Miami, FL – January 15, 2023

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the City of Miami will observe the federal holiday on Monday, January 16, 2023. City offices, libraries, and recreation centers will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Additionally, the City of Miami will host several events to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. These events include a commemorative breakfast, a community service project, and a march and rally.

The commemorative breakfast will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium. The breakfast will feature a keynote speaker and musical performances. Tickets for the breakfast are $50 per person.

The community service project will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Overtown Youth Center. Volunteers will work together to clean up the center and prepare it for the upcoming school year. Volunteers are asked to bring their own gloves and tools.

The march and rally will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023, in Downtown Miami. The march will begin at Bayfront Park and end at the Miami-Dade County Courthouse. The rally will feature speeches from local leaders and activists.

The City of Miami encourages all residents to participate in these events and to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
